Missouri
River

The Missouri River is one of the finest tailwater fisheries in the West, offering exceptional fly fishing just 2.5 hours from Missoula. With its cold, consistent flows and abundant insect life, the Missouri supports a thriving population of strong, hard-fighting rainbow and brown trout.
Missoula Guided Fly Fishing primarily targets the Missouri from April through June, when runoff blows out rivers west of the Continental Divide. During this time, the Missouri provides reliable conditions and outstanding fishing opportunities. Spring hatches of Blue-Winged Olives (BWOs), March Browns, and midges bring trout to the surface, while nymphing and streamer fishing can also produce excellent results.
With miles of productive water, large trout, and steady hatches, the Missouri River is a must-fish destination for any angler looking to experience world-class tailwater fishing in Montana.
