March - May
Skwala Hatch
The spring season offers a prime window for dry fly fishing, including the Skwala, Bwo, and March Brown hatches. This March/April season is pre runoff, the river volume is similar to fall water levels. If you want to catch a big Brown on top water this is hands down your best time to come. Streamer fishing can be productive and produce some fat trout. Most of the guide trips are the Bitterroot and Clark Fork Rivers.
Missouri River
May is great time to fish the Missouri River. If you haven't fished the Mo you probably should check it out. Craig is the epicenter with three fly shops, two bars, and one decent restaurant . The fish per mile and average size are unmatched in the state and hopefully your arm is beat by the end of the day. There are numerous vacation rentals in the area with few good hotel options.
